Celebrating Our Pastors This Month
This October, we pause to thank and celebrate the pastors who lead, serve, and point us to Jesus throughout the year. Today, we are excited to introduce you to Pastor Betsy Lowe, who serves faithfully in Bay Life’s Kids Ministry. Her love for Jesus and passion for reaching the next generation is contagious, and so is her love for Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups! Get to know a bit more about Pastor Betsy through this fun and heartfelt Q&A.
If you could only eat one food item for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups in any shape or form!
Tell us one thing most people do not know about you.
I love the idea that Bigfoot and the Loch Ness Monster may have been spotted! I enjoy reading articles about their sightings.
What Bible verse does God seem to continually bring you back to, sort of as a life verse?
Romans 12:1–2 (ESV)
"I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect."
What are you currently reading, aside from the Bible?
After 7:30 PM, I do not read anything longer than a candy wrapper or I will fall asleep!
What does your ideal day look like? If you could do anything and go anywhere?
Spending time with my husband and family is first on my list! I would love to be on the East Coast of Florida—watching the sun rise, walking the beach, swimming in the ocean, and riding waves.
How did you meet your spouse, and when did you know you wanted to marry him?
I met Thurman during our junior year of college. After graduation, we lived a couple of hours apart, and distance made our hearts grow fonder! Less than a year later, we were engaged.
How did you come to know Jesus as your Lord and Savior?
I learned about Jesus through my parents and our regular church attendance. One day, my aunt gave me a book called Good News for Children, and after reading it, I put my faith in Christ. That is when I understood Jesus died for me.
How has God used your role as a pastor to transform you?
God has used my role by giving me the incredible gift of watching Him work in the hearts of children. As kids listen, learn, and understand God’s love, I get to see their faith take root and grow. I have also been deeply encouraged watching how He works in our middle and high school students—calling, shaping, and sending them into the world.
Describe your most recent personal encounter with Jesus.
I am grateful for the continued healing Jesus has brought to my husband’s health—he has been cancer-free for four years! All the glory goes to Jesus.
What specific ways would you like to see the members of Bay Life get more involved in ministry?
I would love to see more people connect and volunteer within the life of the church. Please pray for our ministries and consider serving in our Children’s, Middle School, or High School ministries. Your prayers, words of encouragement, and time make a lasting difference.
How can the people of Bay Life specifically pray for you and your family?
Pray for continued strength, good health, and wisdom as we serve the Lord.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
Let us all go out in peace to love and serve the Lord!
Thank you, Pastor Betsy, for your joy, energy, and steadfast faithfulness to the next generation. You are a blessing to Bay Life, and we are honored to serve alongside you.
Let us continue to lift up our pastors in prayer this month and beyond.
