Celebrating Our Pastors This Month

Throughout October, we are celebrating Pastor Appreciation Month by highlighting the incredible leaders God has placed at Bay Life Church. This week, we are honored to introduce Pastor Darnisha Taylor, our Worship Arts Pastor.

Known for her powerful voice and deep passion for Christ-centered worship, Darnisha leads us into God’s presence week after week. But beyond the stage, she is also a humble servant, a compassionate encourager, and a woman who has learned to worship even through personal storms. Her joy, authenticity, and trust in the Lord are evident in everything she does.

If you could only eat one food item for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Fudge brownies with Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream… OR my mom’s homemade banana pudding with homemade custard and Nilla wafers.

Tell us one thing most people do not know about you.
I am an introvert!

What Bible verse does God seem to continually bring you back to, sort of as a life verse?
Proverbs 3:5–6 (ESV)
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths."

What are you currently reading, aside from the Bible?
Learning Biblical Hebrew.

What does your ideal day look like? If you could do anything and go anywhere?
Stay at an all-inclusive resort in a tropical location—or somewhere with a mountain view (as long as it is 80 degrees or above!). I would sleep in until about 9:30 AM, sip coffee on a private deck overlooking the water or mountains, enjoy a delicious lunch I did not have to prepare, and spend the afternoon receiving full spa treatments. Add in some snacks, a nap, and an amazing dinner (again—no cooking!), followed by a play, concert, or great movie with my sweetheart. That would be perfect!

How did you meet your spouse, and when did you know you wanted to marry him?
We met through mutual friends—he actually crashed my birthday party! I think I knew after our second date.

How did you come to know Jesus as your Lord and Savior?
I was around 5 or 6 years old and attended a small Christian school where I learned about the love of Jesus. Around age 8, I began to really understand what it meant to live for Him and dedicate my life to Christ. That is when my desire to follow Jesus truly took root.

How has God used your role as pastor to transform you?
God has taught me deep compassion and mercy for those who are walking through hard seasons. We never really know what someone has gone through to get to where they are. He has also taught me how to worship even when it hurts; whether from criticism, mistakes, or personal hardship. No matter the pain, He is always worthy to be praised.

Describe your most recent personal encounter with Jesus.
This has been a “leaning on the everlasting arms” kind of season in my life. The Lord has been gently reminding me how immovable His love, grace, and peace truly are. I am so grateful for His patience as He teaches me to trust Him more deeply. It is like lemonade—sweet with that potent edge of tart. A perfect balance for the soul. God is so good.

What specific ways would you like to see the members of Bay Life get more involved in ministry?
Honestly, I am already beginning to see God moving in ways I have been praying for; especially when it comes to worship in song catching fire across all areas of ministry, from youth to men. God is on the move! I just want to see more of that revival in our souls and a deep unity of heart and mind as we worship the Lord together.

How can the people of Bay Life specifically pray for you and your family?
Please pray for health. God has answered prayers in this area already, and continued prayer is very much appreciated!

Is there anything else you would like to add?
Bay Life has blessed me so much. The support and care I have received here have marked my life in ways I never expected. I have truly loved serving here, and I pray for many more years together ahead.

Thank you, Pastor Darnisha, for your faithfulness to lead us into God's presence with grace and strength. Your worship not only moves us but inspires us to keep our eyes on the One who is always worthy; especially in the midst of life’s storms.
